DANCE COMPETITION SPIRIT

Spirit  of Competition
The purpose of  a dance competition is not to compare and contrast between the dance participants. It's not an avenue to separate the superior dancers from the average or low dancers or to see who wins the trophy. Competitions push dancers to reach the top of their potentials. It is aimed at giving dancers higher level experience and with each experience learn to become a better dancer. So therefore, competitions are not necessarily a contest.
Although the highest scoring dancers are ranked according to their overall scores, the emphasy is that dancers are competing against themselves and not an opponent and thus, competitive dance is not so much about competing but rather it's an opportunity to receive valuable critiques from seasoned dance professionals. Its also an avenue to watch and learn from other dancers.
As a dancer, your major task in a danc competition is to compete with yourself and improve yourself. Its not about winning and if perchance you think it's about winning, then win your flaws and imperfection and you've won.
This is according to M9 Dance Academy Competition Principles.

Dance Letter to parents

Dance Letter to Parents

It's sad to see most parents discourage their kids from exhibiting and maximizing their God given dance Talents. In case you fail to know or notice, talent is the most valuable asset in the world. All the human achievements you see are direct products of talent. And talent rules the world.

Dance Talents usually pull the largest crowd in talent events all over the world and lots of kids have achieved societal and global relevance and significance through it

The talent of a man has the inbuilt ability to shoot him or her to greatness. Greatness are in different fronts. If you child possess great dance ability, it means it requires just little encouragement for that child to achieve something great through dance.

But on a contrary note, many parents would compel their kids to pursue greatness or become something meaningful in areas that have no relationship with their talents, areas where these kids stand at disadvantage. Does that defines the child's best interest or a manual set up to eventually fail in life? Most adults who consistently fail in their work and investment is not because they are not brilliant. It's because they are working outside their natural strength, their God given talent and it could be anything. This becomes a big problem for families, society and government.

If you observe your child has a dance talent or any other, please encourage it. That's the solution to most of the world's problems. Don't say what you don't want your child to become. Encourage him or her to become something in the confines of their talent. If they obey you and become your dream or expectation, it's your life they're living, not theirs. So theirs is wasted. And their own kids lives too will be wasted-spent fulfilling their parents wish. This is the greatest problem of the world. But you can stop it. Just let your children excel in the area of their talent.

Let The Child Dance!

Dance Dream_Keep It

CEO - M9 Dance Company
 Co-Principal choreographer
 Husband and father
 Entrepreneur

 , Eva Clif

Looking back to when I started my dance career, sometime 2009, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria, professional dancing was completely in the dark. No dance school, and most  people termed someone who's crazy about dance a no-direcection person.

I usually beg to perform in events. From family to friends, many people discouraged me to stop dancing. Someone even said I can't buy a pair of shoes with dancing in Nigeria.

But i had a dream, even though nobody was convinced by it. Today all have seen for themselves that their negative predictions and conclusions were all wrong.
God who knows the destiny of all humans won.

POINT

Don't give room to anyone, no matter their age or position, to talk you out of your dreams. Some may say your dreams are too big and unrealistic. Well, that's why it's a dream. Don't change it and don't give up on it. Pursue it. There are some who will say your dreams are too small. Let them keep theirs, you keep yours.

Difficulties will come in you trying to achieve your dreams, same time those talkers will come and mock and advise you to quit your dreams and try something else.

You know what I did?
 I didn't quit.

Every dream has its own pain. After those painful times, comes the winning times.
 Wait till your winning times.

Hope this inspire SOMEONE

Dance Characteristics pt4

Dance Characteristics Part Four
...dance development

 TENACIOUS
💙💙💚💚💛💛💜💜
The Eagle

When other birds fly away from the storm with fear, an eagle spreads its mighty wings and uses the current to rise to greater heights.
Don't settle for normal dance steps. Create and perform steps that most dancers would run away from or termed impossible. Such steps are meant to take you somewhere where only your kind can reach_greater heights.

Dance Characteristics Part Three

 CONFIDENCE
 ðŸ’›ðŸ’›ðŸ’šðŸ’šðŸ’™ðŸ’™ðŸ’œðŸ’œ

The Eagle

When the mother Eagle sees that time has come for it to teach the eaglets how to fly, she gathers an eaglet onto her back, and flies high.

Suddenly she swoops out from under the eaglet and allows it to fall. As it falls, it gradually learns what it's wings are for until the mother catches it once again. The process is often repeated.

If the young eagle is slow to learn or cowardly, she returns it to the nest, and begins to tear it apart, until there's nothing left for the eaglet to cling to.

Then she nudges it off the cliff. At this point, the eaglet has no option but to fly. This is how competitive dancers should be trained. If you are a dancer that aspire to be great, above your equals, apply this strategy. At M9 Dance School, this is almost becoming normal to all our students in Nigeria and it has uncountable advantages for dance school owners. Break the dancers until they meet your expectation, not theirs.

 INTEGRITY

 ðŸ’›ðŸ’›ðŸ’™ðŸ’™ðŸ’šðŸ’šðŸ’œðŸ’œ

The Eagle

An eagle never eats dead meat.
It only eats the meat from the prey it kills itself.

Similarly, as a dance school owner or dance entrepreneur, don't induct a dancer trained somewhere else into your dance team. Create your own and use only your own.

That's the point.

STANDARD
💚💚💛💛💙💙💜💜

The Eagle.

Eagles can fly up to an altitude of 10,000 feet.
At 10,000 feet, you will never find another bird, it has to be an eagle.
Like an eagle, let your dance performance constantly set a standard.
However, it's not easy to set a dance standard in the presence of so many outstanding dance companies and their stars.
But it's possible. Start from your base or immediate environment. After all, that's your first market point.

If you can be the standard in your base, it's a good thing. It means you cannot be overlooked outside. That's the point.

Dance and Vision

SAD!
majority, actually more than 80% of people who claim to want to dive into professional dancing or dance Entrepreneurship capacity lack vision or don't have a clear vision of what they really want to achieve or where they truly want to reach.
They just somehow hope it's possible to reach somewhere meaningful if they stick with their dance talent. But we all know talent is not enough to achieve great vision.

Unfortunately, that's the major reason why these 80% percent are poor and making minimal impact in spite of the abundance of talent they are gifted with by God.

To help limit this, here's one top practical point to consider and apply.

POINT

Write down a vision-your vision of what you want to see happen to the world or in the world. It should be the big picture - talking about the complete image of your dance career.

Set backs will certainly occur and tough times will certainly hit you and almost compelling you to back down and settle for something less, don't.

Follow your vision. It's only a clear vision that you're working to accomplish that can distinguish you from the majority 80%.

So, write it down, bold and clear. Let it be more than a memory verse in your head.

It's part of the vision of M9 Dance Company to add meaning to the world's dance community through diverse means. That's why am here and it's easy because it's already scripted in a written vision.

If you've just been dancing without a long term vision that includes you still making money through dance after decades of retirement or no-more-active-dancing period, then you will certainly be part of that 80% of talented dancers.

Do what you must. Write down your dance vision today and enjoy its fruition tomorrow.

Thanks

Dance entrepreneurship

I don't have much to say here but one very important secret to help dance entrepreneurs.
 Here's IT.

At all times, have at least two dancers of similar skills and talents in all offered dance routines. That will give you some good sleep in case of uncertainties and provocative situations where one key dancer is unavailable or taken over by pride.

Kindly contact M9 Dance Company for more vital information on this and more dance entrepreneurship training hot-subjects.

How to teach kids dance #untold

Over many years, we've read, heard and tried many ways of teaching kids how to dance. What we read, heard and tried all made their separate points and that's good.
But here's something new.
Add this to your list of techniques.

1. Make it competitive. Let them know it's competitive. It will charge them, to focus more, try more and learn more because they want to prove their soundness and express their selves more.

2. Make it rewarding. Place a prize or gift item for the most outstanding student/kid. You will be surprised at their performances.

3. Be fair and encourage them all the way.

4. Make it a standard in your training and whoever gets use to it will become a good asset in dance matters and that's the final point of the dance training.
