7 Tips to Teaching Kids Ballet Dance

Most good dancers usually started dancing at a very tender age — 3 to 7 years. It's a miracle how they were able to learn and scale through those complicated dance classes.     But the greater miracle lies
in the wisdom and teaching method of the dance teacher. Not every good dancer can successful teach kids. Teaching kids how to dance requires many qualities, some of which include patience, humility, friendship and good observation skill. Below are some successful tips to teaching kids how to dance and enjoy dancing ballet.

1. Know when it's time up.

Try not to spend too much time on a particular step or teaching session, except you observe that the kids are enjoying it. Upon that, kids easily get tired and bored when a particular thing is repeated for more than ten minutes. So, observe and know when it's time up.

2. Teach and Play

As you teach, play with the kids and get them excited. In playing, kids learn a great deal than when you are extremely serious with them. Correct them with a playful tone. The more you teach-play, the more they get comfortable and would be the ones to remind their parents of the next dance class.

3. Praise

Always praise them for getting anything correctly. Praise set them in motion to perform better. Even if they fail to get something correctly, simply tap them on the back and say well done - at least for the effort. Then, give them more chances to try again.

4. Mobility

Don't keep the class in one place  more than ten minutes. Get them moving from one axis of the hall to another. Sometimes, walk with them outside and come back. In doing this, you engage them with good distraction and take sleep away from their eyes. They become lively.

 5. Visual

Have good dance pictures pasted around the class. Or you can show them pictures from dance books. Most times, it's better seen than said. Also, have a TV set. Let them often watch the primary dance movements and flow along.

 6. Sing the steps

Try forming a simple song with the names of the steps and chorus it with them as they practice. This helps their tender memory not to easily forget the steps.

7. Friendship

If they can see you as a friend, then they can easily give you their best.

Every child that has interest for dance can become a good dancer someday but it mostly depends on how he/she was taught in early dance training classes.
